I came with my friend and her sister for tea and desserts. It's got a nice classy cafe vibe. It was Saturday around 8pm and we were seated immediately. Do note that there is free parking for customers in the evening, though there were not too many spaces so I'd assume during peak hours it'd fill up quickly. They had various teas to select from with both caffeinated and non-caffeinated varieties. The tea came in glass pots with a tea bag to put inside yourself. For dessert, we ordered various cakes to try: passion fruit cake, carrot cake, hazelnut cheesecake, and triple chocolate mousse cake. My favorite was the triple chocolate mousse, though they were all quite delicious. The hazelnut cheesecake and triple chocolate mousse cake were very rich and dense. The passion fruit and carrot cakes were lighter and easier to eat. The carrot cake had a cream cheese-based frosting, which I personally do not like, but the cake itself was moist and full of spices. Really tasty. Overall, it was very delicious and we had a good time.
I tried Gourmandise while exploring Salt Lake City this past weekend. It was such a cute vibe with natural lighting and a chic interior. I got a breakfast bowl with chorizo, eggs, potatoes, onions, and hollandaise sauce. The chorizo tasted more like ground beef, but it was still really good! I also got an iced lavender latte which was quite tasty! I wasn't able to try any of their pastries, but they looked DELICIOUS. As someone who has seen authentic french pastries in France, these looked as real as they come! Service was fast, reliable, and quite generous. I recommend Gourmandise to anyone in the Salt Lake City area!
If you've formulated an opinion of Gourmandise based on the airport location I implore you to give it another chance. An amazing brunch spot for the whole family. A wide variety of food options that are plated beautifully. The food actually tastes as good as it looks too!
This location has relatively large seating area, but could get quite crowded for brunch and weekend afternoons. Their dessert options are insane, you'll definitely get lost there or want one of each lol. We tried the classic napoleon (mille-feuille), fruit tart and chocolate-berry mousse cake, and liked it in that order. The napoleon was very crunchy/flaky, perfectly balanced crust vs cream ratio. However, both the cream and crust are quite sweet, so after sharing half of it we were already quite sugared out. If paired with a cup of coffee and no other cakes it might be okay. The fruit tart crust was very buttery and flaky, tho the custard inside was a bit much, on the runnier side, the fruit pieces were quite fresh but a bit less to balance out the thick crust and creamy custard. Their mousse cake flavor was great, wasn't too heavy or sweet, however it was more cake forward, wish it had more mousse.
Their Kouign Amann is so good but my favorite pasty here is the almond croissant! Delicious! Almond type cream filling inside with almond slivers on top with a sugar glaze or something I can't articulate how good it is other than it's freakin amazing to me I love it! Staff is friendly and kind and always so helpful when I ask questions about anything they have Inside it feels how it smells and that's good Of course they have other things that look good but I haven't gotten a chance to try them and by chance I mean I haven't wanted to try something new from what I usually get If anyone has a drink recommendation for this deliciousness lmk plz
I had a work meeting at Gourmandise so I got the Euro Double Bacon Burger. It was juicy and charbroiled but a little over cooked. Whenever you order a burger and they don't ask you 'How do you want that cooked?' then you know it's going to be well done, unfortunately. The chocolate dessert was super rich but delicious.
We were visiting from out of town and ordered a couple cakes from here for a friend's birthday. We did one white strawberry chantilly and one pumpkin spice layered cake. Both were good, but the pumpkin spice cake was the favorite among everyone in the group! Delicious! After visiting to pick the cakes up, we saw how tasty everything looked and made a mental note to come back for lunch. For lunch, my friend and I split a bowl of tomato basil and grilled cheese sandwich. Both were yummy, but the soup was lukewarm (we didn't complain, but I'm sure our server would've rectified that for us). A couple girls in our group got salads and said they were yummy too! The desserts sucked us in! No surprise! I got a slice of the chocolate mousse cake and my friend got the caramel brownie bread pudding. The bread pudding was SO much better and I was jealous after trying hers that I didn't pick that! Overall, such a darling place and I wish they had one of these local to me!!
This place is honestly pretty great and based on the comments in other posts, a bit under appreciated. We came here late after a night of drinking and this place was just perfect. Carbs. Cakes. More alcohol. Coffee. Hydration. Friendly, late night service. Honestly, what else could you ask for? This place is magic, really. The food comes out fast and its delicious and the desserts? Chef's kiss! Just what we were craving. Thank you!
I have always loved Gourmandise for its desserts (as everyone should because they are NEXT LEVEL), however, I ate here for lunch for the first time and I was even more astounded than I thought I could be. Our service was impeccable even though we had many annoying requests, and the food was some of the best I've had in the city. I highly recommend coming here for any meal, but always make sure you take a dessert home with you no matter how full you get. You won't regret it.
